About

The Al Azhar Islamic Boarding School Foundation (Yayasan Pesantren Islam Al Azhar) was established in 1952. From its founding to the present day, YPI Al Azhar has managed 148 Al Azhar schools, ranging from Playgroup and Kindergarten to Higher Education institutions. These schools are spread across 16 provinces in Indonesia. Most of Al Azhar schools have achieved highly commendable accomplishments, both in academic excellence and moral and character education of their students. These achievements are recognized not only at the local level but also at the national and international levels. Such success has inspired a strong desire among parents in various regions for YPI Al Azhar to continue “expanding its wings” by establishing similar schools to ensure the continuity and sustainability of their children’s education. This continuity refers not merely to educational levels, but more importantly to the continuity of vision, mission, and quality assurance. In response to this support and the aspirations of parents, Yayasan Waqaf Al Muhajirien Jakapermai Bekasi, as one of YPI Al Azhar’s partner foundations, officially initiated preparations in 2015 for the establishment of SMA Islam Al Azhar 18 Grand Wisata. In the 2016/2017 academic year, the school was officially founded and began accepting new students. SMA Islam Al Azhar 18 Grand Wisata confidently implements a semi–full day school education model, which is well integrated into its curriculum and student activities. This model ensures that all student activities—from morning until afternoon—covering academic learning, worship, play, rest, and even home-related activities, are carefully organized within a comprehensive and integrated educational system. Through the semi–full day school program, students are expected to receive a forward-looking general education aligned with scientific development, balanced and appropriate Islamic education, and character education that anticipates social and cultural development. Students’ potentials are nurtured through various extracurricular activities, supported by continuous guidance and counseling services. As a result, negative influences from activities outside school can be minimized, since students spend a longer, well-planned, and well-directed time in school. Parents who both work can feel reassured about the quality of education and character development of their children, as students are guided by professional and qualified educational staff.
